House 15: Modern Residential Architecture in BragaEvery project is a unique relationship between intentions and desires, translated into a harmonious blend of comfort, pleasure, and relaxation for the home’s inhabitants. House 15 reflects this philosophy, capturing the couple’s vision for a home that seamlessly balances social interaction and private retreat. The homeowners prioritized creating social spaces where everyone feels connected, whether cooking, reading, or working from home. They also desired a tranquil nighttime environment, free from distractions like exterior movements or unsettling shadows. The design celebrates fluidity, connecting spaces both horizontally and vertically. At the heart of the home lies a core space where the ceiling’s wood finish elegantly transitions into the floor of the upper level. This interplay between continuity and transition allows natural light to disperse across the horizontal planes, creating a gentle gradient that differentiates the social, leisure, and rest areas. During the day, natural light reflects and guides the inhabitants toward the most comfortable spaces in the house. At night, strategically placed artificial lighting enhances the warm ambiance. The interplay of light and materiality ensures a sense of comfort and security. The wood's reflective qualities transform the entire first level into a luminous, inviting space, while the upper level embraces a cozier atmosphere with darker tones and smaller openings, fostering a sense of peace and intimacy without feeling confined. House 15 is a testament to modern architectural design, where aesthetics and functionality converge to create a living experience tailored to the unique needs of its inhabitants. |
